(An additional AUD $50 fee applies to all Late Entries) 

You can enter the Competition using our Online Entry Form (below)  submitting the Form and all required materials by mail or email.

You may also choose to enter by email, fax or by mail. To do so, download the 2017 Entry Form PDF which you'll find on this page.

Whichever way you decide to enter, make sure you carefully read the 2017 Rules and Conditions, with particular attention to the Repertoire Guidelines.

In addition, have all of the following items ready for your submission.

1. Proof of Age 
Scan or photocopy of birth certificate, passport, driver's license, or proof-of-age card.

2. Proof of Australian or New Zealand Citizenship/Residency or valid Australian Visa 
Scan or photocopy of birth certificate, passport, or other government-issued documents.

3. Headshot
A high-quality colour photograph in jpeg format, or as a colour 8 x 10 inch photographic print.

4. Study Details 
List past and present courses, qualifications (music and other), dates and institutions. Do not exceed two (2) A4 pages; pdf, .doc or .docx format.

5. Performance Experience 
A summary of your performance experience to date. Do not exceed two (2) A4 pages; pdf, .doc or .docx format.

6. Future Plans 
List of proposed future study/singing activities. Do not exceed two (2) A4 pages; pdf, .doc or .docx format.

7. Repertoire
Ensure you have your Repertoire information prepared for each of the Categories, as specified in the Repertoire Guidelines in the 2017 Rules & Conditions:

For each of Categories A, B, C and D:
Aria/Song with English translation of the title if applicable


Precise source (work, opera)



8. Entry Fee PayPal, Credit Card or direct debit by arrangement

Online entry to the 2017 IFAC Handa Australian Singing Competition is made by completing each of the 3 Steps below.

Step 1: Your Details > Click to begin

This form will collect your personal information, and require that you upload:

  • Proof of Age
  • Proof of Australian or New Zealand Citizenship/Residency
  • Headshot
  • Study Details
  • Performance Experience
  • Future Plans

Step 2: Repertoire Info > Click to begin

The Repertoire Info Form will collect your Repertoire information split into four Categories:

  • Category A - Works by a Classical or Baroque Composer (Mandatory)
  • Category B - Songs for Voice and Piano (Mandatory)
  • Category C - Works from the International Operatic Repertoire (Mandatory)
  • Category D - A Song with Orchestral Accompaniment (Mandatory)

You are required to nominate one (1) item for each of Category A, B, C and D. You have the option of adding up to three (3) additional items per Category, to achieve the 30 minutes of required repertoire. Make sure you have read the Repertoire Guidelines.

Step 3: Payment > Click to begin

Payment for Entry can be made online using your credit card, debit card or PayPal account.

Standard Entry fee is AUD $100.00 by 6pm AEDST Friday 10 March 2017.

LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED with additional AUD $50.00 late fee by 6pm AEDST Tuesday 14 March 2017.

The Mathy Statuette

The Mathy

'The Mathy' has become synonymous with the Marianne Mathy Scholarship, the featured award within the IFAC  Handa Australian Singing Competition.

'The Mathy' limited edition Drago Marin Cherina bronze statuette was first awarded to Western Australian soprano Rachelle Durkin in 2000.
